The high beam creates a well-focused light beam with a long range, and the second reflector has a very wide and smooth light path. The luminous flux of the high beam is up to 1200 lumens, wide-cone reflector offers maximum performance 350 lumens and has a neutral shade of light with high color rendering index CRI >90 (Color Rendering Index). Also available red light and strobe with a power of 5 lumens. It uses one Li-ion battery for power. 18350 with a capacity of 1600 mAh, which is included in the package and is charged via a modern USB-C connector directly in the headlamp. The headlamp can also be powered in an emergency RCR123A (16340) batteries whether with a disposable CR123A battery. The headlamp is equipped with a wide, comfortable strap. The strap is perforated for quick sweat removal and equipped with reflective elements that ensure good passive visibility, e.g. when running on the road.

Using the Fenix HM55R headlamp

It may be on battery from the factory insulating cap. Remove it from the battery before first use..

Power on/off and mode switching – The white light is turned on by holding the switch for 0.5 seconds, the headlamp is turned on to red light by pressing the switch twice quickly. The power modes of the switched on light color are then switched by briefly pressing the switch. The light is turned off again by holding it for 0.5 seconds.

Switching between high beam and wide beam – Toggle between high beam and low beam by holding the switch for 1.2 seconds.

Memory for the last set power mode – The headlamp has a memory and will turn on in the last set power mode of the respective reflector, with the exception of the highest high beam mode and red light modes.

Intelligent proximity sensor – The headlamp has a built-in safety circuit. When the reflector approaches the illuminated object less than 6 cm and for more than 1.5 seconds, it automatically reduces the output to 30 lumens to prevent overheating and possible burns or damage to the illuminated object. When the lamp moves away from the illuminated object for more than 0.8 seconds, it automatically restores the previously used power mode.

Turning the proximity sensor off/on – With the headlamp off, press and hold the electronic switch for 6 seconds. The headlamp will flash twice, indicating that this function is on. To turn the function off again, press and hold the electronic switch for 6 seconds with the headlamp off. The headlamp will flash 8 times, indicating that the function is off.

Battery replacement – Unscrew the battery cap of the headlamp and insert the battery according to the marked polarity. Then tighten the cap again completely.

Charging – Flip the dust cap off and plug the USB-C charging cable into the charging port of the headlamp. Replace the dust cap when charging is complete. The indicator light will be red while charging. It will turn green when fully charged. The typical charging time is 2 hours with a 5V/1A USB power source for a fully discharged headlamp. The headlamp can be used while charging, but the charging time will be longer and the available power modes depend on the current battery charge level. Note: Fenix 18350 and 16340/RCR123A batteries (3.6-3.7V) can be charged.

Battery charge status indication – Each time the flashlight is turned on, or after pressing the button when the flashlight is off, the indicator LED will be activated for three seconds. If the indicator LED is green, the battery is charged to more than 80%. Green flashing means 50-80% capacity. If it is red, it is charged to 20-50%. Red flashing means less than 20% battery capacity remains. Works only with Fenix rechargeable batteries type 18350 and 16340/RCR123A.

Intelligent overheating protection – When using the headlamp at high power settings for a long time, a large amount of heat accumulates. When the headlamp reaches a temperature of 55°C or higher, it will automatically reduce the output by a few lumens to reduce the temperature. When the temperature drops below 55°C, the output will gradually increase again.

Low battery warning – If the battery voltage drops below the set level, the headlamp will reduce the brightness to a lower level. When the lowest power is reached, the battery charge indicator will start flashing red to remind you to recharge or replace the battery.
Note: Only works with Fenix rechargeable batteries type 18350 and 16340/RCR123A.

Warning

• Do not disassemble sealed parts yourself, this will void the warranty.
• Use only high-quality Li-ion 18350 batteries, If you use disposable CR123A batteries, do not try to charge them in the headlamp..
• If the headlamp is flashing, not switching to higher power modes, or not lighting up, it could be for one of the following reasons:
  • The battery is discharged - charge it or replace it.
  • The contacts inside the headlamp are dirty - clean them with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol.
